H.E.A.T.

This weekend my unit got to use the HEAT trainer, which stands for Humvee Egress Assistance Trainer (there must be some branch of the Pentagon dedicated to creating acronyms).  The idea is to let soldiers see what it is like to get out of a Humvee that is laying on its side or upside down.

Sort of a cross between an Army simulator and a roller coaster, getting turned upside down with 50 pounds of gear on makes you realize how much we take gravity for granted.  And also what a good idea it is to tie down the ammunition cans in the back.

It makes for an interesting time, and even though the training is for a very serious situation, there was plenty of laughter coming out of the simulator.
