On November 5th, the Steele, Rice and Waseca county Republican parties will mark one year from election day 2014 by hosting the GOP Gubernatorial candidates. Jeff Johnson, Kurt Zellers, Dave Thompson and Rob Farnsworth have confirmed for the evening. Scott Honour and two major 'rumored to be running' candidates have been invited as well. Jack and Ben from the Up And At 'Em morning show on AM1130 will be the moderators.
This will be the first debate held in outstate Minnesota, away from the Twin Cities proper, and will have a bit of outstate focus. For instance, while the Met Council earns conservative condemnation in the metro (and rightly so) the average southern Minnesotan wants to know how and when the disastrous farm equipment repair tax will be repealed. While the Twin Cities is figuring out how to add yet another light rail line, outstate Republicans want to know why one of the most dangerous highways in Minnesota (Hwy 14) isn't even on MNDOT's 20 year construction plan.
Tickets are $20 in advance, with all proceeds going to the three BPOU's hosting the event. The venue is the Owatonna Country Club, and will have a social hour at 6pm and the debate starting at 7pm. Tickets can be purchased from the EventBrite page, or from local party leaders.
