Global irony

The Bloomington school district closes school because of global warming friendly fuel-

School district officials said they decided to close schools because of the low temperatures and windchills predicted for this morning. The district experienced problems with a number of its school buses Thursday morning when state-required bio diesel fuel began to clog the buses' fuel systems, according to district spokesman Rick Kaufman.

So one of the 'cures' for global warming, biofuel, was rendered ineffective by the intense cold.

Speaking of irony, the initial reports on the cause of the bus problems were wrong.

An iindependent study showed source of the problem was in the 98% petroleum portion of the fuel, not the two percent biodiesel.

Many updates on this online.

There was no 'independent study', and the initial reports have been claimed to be wrong, not proven.

The state of Minnesota, source of the biodiesel requirement, says that the regular #2 diesel was to blame. If that is true, then the state should allow bus companies to use #1 diesel during the winter, but it doesn't.

Many claims on this online. Facts are a little harder to come by.
