I was there that night, at Fort Mcoy... I was not a recruit, I was new to the National Guard. I was a United States Marine fresh off active duty. The events of that night still play in my head like a movie. I how ever continued to serve in the National Guard for almost 6 years after that unfortunate accident. Not a day goes by I do not think about Mike and his family. My heart hurts for them everyday. Its been 7 long years, I now have the strength to do this... God Bless

We never got more than the basic details of what had happened, even those of us who were involved. I remember wondering that nite if there would be two casualties, David and the one who pulled the trigger.
